چکیده
Abstract Introduction Watchfloors provide around-the-clock information, intelligence, and technical support to the U.S. military. Active-duty service members (ADSMs) working on these 24/7 watchfloors stand watches include night shifts and/or frequent shift rotations. Tailoring shiftwork schedules optimize individual sleep patterns may reduce negative effects of shiftwork. The purpose this study was test whether a new schedule would improve ADSM well-being sleep. Methods ADSMs (N=79; 83.5% males, 91.2% enlisted, 19 54 years age) participated in two-phase quasi-experimental longitudinal assess before after implementation schedule. Both involved three rotating shifts: day (0730-1530), evening (1320-2330), (2330-0730). old had 5 successive days on-shift (5-on/4-off) 4 (4-on/4-off). Shifts rotated every off period. Standardized questionnaires were administered while participants (study start) ~5 months switching included Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Insomnia Severity (ISI), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), Profile Mood States (POMS). monitored using wearable devices (ŌURA rings). Results POMS total mood disturbance scores lower (i.e., better) (p< 0.001), as several sub-scale including tension depression anger (p=0.014), confusion vigor (p=0.029). There statistical trend for decrease ISI from (p=0.067). duration, PSQI, ESS did not differ between (all p>0.05). Conclusion Implementation that tailored worker associated with decreased disturbance, improvement states (e.g., tension), reduced insomnia symptom severity. Also, research team received anecdotal reports high levels satisfaction This demonstrates positive real-world basic circadian methods tailor military personnel. Support (if any)

Survey the level of well-being and Psychometric characteristics of hospital nurses’ well-being at work
Background and Aims: mental health problems is common among nurses, because they must face to stressors of their workplace which include work-rest cycle problems, overload responsibility, financial problems, lack of vacation time, pressures of work, patient communication frameworks and painful experiences of patients. Based on previous researches psychological resiliency can help them to appro...
متن کاملNonstandard Work Schedules, Perceived Family Well-Being, and Daily Stressors.
Data from two studies assessed the effects of nonstandard work schedules on perceived family well-being and daily stressors. Study 1, using a sample of employed, married adults aged 25 - 74 (n = 1,166) from the National Survey of Midlife in the United States, showed that night work was associated with perceptions of greater marital instability, negative family-work, and work-family spillover th...
متن کاملImproving Animal Well-Being Through Genetic Selection1,2
This paper reviews the possibilities of adapting laying hens to cages by means of genetic selection. By selecting separately for rate of lay and longevity using a kin selection method, a strain of laying hen has been developed that shows much less feather pecking and cannibalism than a control strain, and with no decrease in productivity. This experimental strain enjoys a higher level of welfar...
متن کاملClusters of Attributes and Well-Being in the US
Using ARIMA models and entropy, the dynamic evolution of several functions of aggregate income and other attributes of well-being is analyzed for statistical “similarity” in order to determine potentially distinct dimensions in multidimensional analysis of welfare and quality of life in the US. The entropy metric compares entire distributions and is more general than principal components and ot...
متن کاملWhat aspects of shiftwork influence off-shift well-being of healthcare workers?
Characteristics of shiftwork schedules have implications for off-shift well-being. We examined the extent to which several shift characteristics (e.g., shift length, working sundays) are associated with three aspects of off-shift well-being: work-to-family conflict, physical well-being, and mental well-being. We also investigated whether these relationships differed in four nations. The Survey ...
